Racing Yacht Repower

Before the Christmas break the team at Callaghans had the opportunity to repower a Welbourn 50ft yacht named ‘Yeah Baby’ that was hoping to be participating in the famous 2019 Sydney to Hobart yacht race.

Our Technicians worked well to plan and complete this project off site at Woolwich Dock Marina and within a limited time frame. Using specialised custom made equipment made in house for those tight engine lifts and maneuvers, we were able to remove & replace the tired old Volvo engine with the latest Volvo Penta D2 50hp engine and sail drive package in a timely manner.

Owner Louis Ryckman was pleased with the outcome and ready to hit the racing start time on Boxing Day and completed the race in position 27. Well done ‘Yeah Baby!’
